Gregory Rice

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I have been a professional photographer for the last 24 years of my life. At the start of my career I worked for newspapers and a job at the Sun Journal in Lewiston, Maine is what brought me to this beautiful state. I worked as a photojournalist for about 10 years before taking the leap off the cliff into being a self-employed photographer. For the last 14 years I have shot sports action event photography, team and individual photography, ran a full service portrait studio for 7 years. I  now specialize in Maine wedding photography and Maine family photography.

Maine Wedding Photography – I have been working as a Maine wedding photographer for 11 seasons now. My photography is grounded in showing the incredible love not just felt by the couple but in the friends and family that have gathered to help them celebrate their special day. I hope you see that in my images. I look to show the special moments that will make your celebration unique. I am sure to get photos of all the little details that you have worked so hard to plan, but focus most of my attention on capturing the moments happening around me on your incredible day. It is the photographs of these moments that will you keep your memories of the day fresh in your mind for the rest of your life. As part of a website redesign in late 2015 I spent some significant time looking at the work of other Maine photographers. I have to say that I was proud that I felt that the images I make at weddings held up extremely well to the competition. I have made a conscious effort to keep my prices a bit lower and shoot a few extra weddings to make up the difference. I start at $1800 but the images I give my clients can easily hold their own against photographers charging twice as much.

Maine Family Photography – I have to admit that I used to be scared of dealing with large group family photography and avoided it. Dealing with a family grouping of 20-30 is extremely challenging. Everything in life gets easier the more you do it and today I look forward to working with large families. I don’t see many Maine photographers doing this type of work and being a Maine family photographer keeps me busy in the summer. A few years ago my parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. It had been 5 years since all 3 siblings had gathered with their families and we marked the occasion of their anniversary with a family photograph which now hangs on their living room wall. I look forward to working with you and your extended family to make family portraits to help you celebrate any special occasion.
